The star of the match was Argentina forward Paulo Dybala who managed to net the ball twice before the midway point in the first half. Like icing on the cake was Giorgio Chiellini’s third goal early in the second half that effectively paved way for a stunning victory for Juventus and in control of the second leg of the quarter-final match to be held at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona has a history of comebacks – the most recent one being its amazing victory against Paris Saint-Germain after it overturned a 4-0 first-leg deficit to win the second leg 6-1 and thereby the match. Barcelona will need another stunning comeback if they are to reach the last four.
Juventus last met the Spanish giants when they lost 3-1 in the 2015 final, but here they ran them ragged and nullified the visitors` front three of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.
Barcelona may have gone down in the first leg, but it doesn’t mean that Juventus can relax. Given that Barca did manage to win despite being 4-0 down against PSG, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is not getting carried away.
