A Chinese multinational investment holding conglomerate specializing in Internet-related service, Tencent and Zhejiang-based automotive manufacturing company Geely team up with China Railway to obtain 49 percent stake in a subsidiary of China Railway providing Wi-Fi on high-speed trains across the country.
Sources stated that Wi-Fi access is already available on country’s new-generation Fuxing bullet trains on the Shanghai-Beijing line. Jointly, companies are working to increase the number of Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the high-speed rail network, also develop an online platform that deals with tourism, shopping, catering services and many more.
China country well recognized for the world’s longest high-speed rail network and it is expected to have 38,000 km of high-speed rail tracks by 2025.
According to the information of the source, around 3.04 billion passenger trips were made on railways, last year and more than 56 percent of those trips were made on high-speed railways.
Geely offers traveller vehicles under the Volvo, Geely Auto, Lotus brands and business under the London EV organization and Yuan-Cheng Auto brands. In 2010, it has claimed the Swedish traveller auto producer Volvo Cars. In June 2017, the organization additionally obtained 49.9% value in Malaysian Carmaker Proton Holdings.
